BIOGRAPHY
Mrs. Bartel has been teaching for twenty years. She began her career at Saint Mary's School in Williamston teaching third and fourth grade. In 1986 she came to Webberville Elementary as a half-time kindergarten teacher, which she taught for seven years. She then taught second grade for the next eleven years. In the Fall of 2004 she moved to her present position in first grade.
Mrs. Bartel has additional training in a number of areas. In reading she has participated in Readers Workshop and Project Read training, enabling her to have an extensive background in the area of teaching children to be fluent readers. She is currently continuing her education in this area with MLPP+LETRS training. Mrs. Bartel has trained in mathmatics with Math Their Way, a manipulative based system that helps reinforce basic math skills. She has continued her education in science at Lansing Community College in a variety of science related topics. Mrs. Bartel has participated in behavioral mangement programs which have helped her to create a responsive learning environment in her classroom. She is currently participating in the Teacher Leadership program, working with school improvement, curriculum development and other school issues.
