Students and parents can subscribe to free newsletters and see the latest articles on college admission, from researching to preparing to applying. For a fee, users can access Inside Admissions reports, which explain how admission works at top colleges and universities, and what you can be doing to increase your chances of admission.

www.careercruising.com - Web-based career and college exploration and planning tool. This site is also used by East Grand Rapids students in the development of their Educational Development Plan(EDP). Hint: username is: egrhs and password is: careers.

www.embark.com - The Embark Web site offers financial aid, scholarship and college search information. In addition, you can apply to schools on-line through this site. Under the "Undergraduate Market Page," students select the research, prepare, apply and get ready sites. Under the "research" option is an extensive college search with over 5,513 colleges featured. The search asks several questions about location, program type, student body, admissions, academics, cost, special programs, and campus life.

nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cool/ - An online college search of over 7000 colleges and universities in the United States . This service is provided by the United States Department of Education.

www.petersons.com - A comprehensive site where you can identify colleges by location, major, tuition, sports and more! You will also find test prep and financial aid information.

www.nacac.com/p&s.html - Steps to College is NACAC's online newsletter for and about students in the school-to-college transition. New stories are added to this page throughout the year in September, November, January, March and May!

mycollegeoptions.com/index.asp - My College Options (MCO) is a free service which assists students in the college search process by matching students with colleges and universities that offer them the best opportunity for success. www.collegiatechoice.com/ - Collegiate Choice Walking Tours are simple, non-promotional videos of the student guided campus tour offered at over 350 colleges and universities across the United States , Canada , England , Ireland , and Scotland . These videos are not professionally produced. Guidance counselors, not commercial film makers, are doing the recordings. Videos may not be viewed on the site but are offered for purchase.

www.finaid.org - Another good site for exploring both need-based and gift aid including a scholarship search. There is also a calculator to help compute an estimated family contribution.

www.michigan.gov/mistudentaid/ - The official State of Michigan website for financial aid and scholarships including financial aid basics, information on Michigan's scholarship programs, and a merit-based scholarship search.

www.studentaid.ed.gov/completefafsa - Link to the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA), the first step in applying for need-based financial assistance in paying for a college education. You can get detailed information on how to complete each question on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The 2003-04 version is online, just waiting to assist you as you through the application process.
