Student Lunch Purchasing and Charge Policy

Our food service program is set up to work most effectively on a pre-payment system. Each student has an account set up into which parents can deposit money. When your student decides to purchase lunch, the cost of the meal is subtracted from their account. The process of having money on account for your student speeds up the serving time, and allows more time for your students to eat. We strongly discourage cash transactions on a daily basis but we will accept them. We highly encourage you to use the pre-payment method for your child’s lunch. Please note that checks are easier to trace should that become necessary.

Listed below are guidelines to follow when sending in pre-payments.

  • Place your check in an envelope and print your child’s name, teachers name, the school name, and the amount being paid on the outside of the envelope.
  • If you would like the amount to be applied to more than one student, please write the above information for EACH student on the envelope.
  • Checks should be made payable to Webberville Community Schools.
  • Please be aware that school cashiers are not allowed to cash checks. We can accept deposits ONLY into student accounts.

Webberville Elementary Charge Policy

There are times when students will have spent all the money in their lunch account, and the parent has not sent in a new check. Charge limits for elementary students (the amount that can be “put on account” until a check is received from their parents) will be set to a maximum amount equivalent to two (2) school lunches. No student will be able to charge after they have reached this point, and at no time will a student be allowed to charge snacks at breakfast. Any student that reaches the two-charge limit will be given a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, vegetable, fruit and milk. This courtesy will be expected to be paid in full the next school day.

If the student account has a negative balance from the previous year, they will not be allowed to charge until the balance is paid in full.

Lunch Account Information

At any time parents may contact the food service office for information on their students account, make payments, pay off debts, find out what their students are eating, and get positive balance information. The food service office is open from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Family Accounts – If you have multiple students in one family who have lunch accounts, the money deposited into those accounts are considered a family account for one household. You can still deposit a dedicated amount into each child’s account, but if one child in the family goes into a negative balance, money will be drawn from the other child’s account to cover the amount owed. If you have any questions, please call food service.
