The History of Webberville - McDonald's

McDonald’s arrived in Webberville in November 1997. The owner is Mr. Michael Dickerson. The restaurant is located on M-52 just north of the I96 expressway. He also owns a McDonald’s in Williamston, Haslett, and Lansing.

The Webberville McDonald’s has about 50 employees. Mr. Dickerson has about 400 employees, if you count his other restaurants. The store manager gets paid $35,000 a year. The general crew salary varies from $5.15 minimum wage to higher wages. The salary depends upon on position and experience.

Many years ago while Mr. Dickerson was in college, he worked at McDonald’s and enjoyed it enough to buy his own store. Each McDonald’s is independently owned. So the prices that are charged depend upon what the supplies cost. He lives in the Webberville area and felt that it would be a great place to have a business. McDonald’s in Webberville has helped the community by making a lot of donations. He also likes being involved with special projects and community programs. The Webberville McDonald’s participated in the "Build A Happy Meal" program for Webberville Elementary School.

Mr.Dickerson said that the most popular items are French fries and McFlurry. Other popular items include the Big Mac, Double Cheeseburger and Coca-Cola products. He also indicated that McDonald’s uses more potatoes than any other single business or potato user in the world. When McDonald’s opened its first restaurant in Moscow, the country ran out of its entire supply in the first six months of business.

Mr. Dickerson really likes his job because there are a lot of different things you can do and he gets to meet lots of people. His favorite part is paying the bills 1998 was a very good year for the Webberville McDonald’s store. He feels he is fortunate to have a business where there is a lot of variety.
