Golf team finishes a successful season
The Webberville golf team ended a successful season that was highlighted with individual and team honors.
Coached by Charlie Watkins, the team finished in second place in the north division of the SMAA league. At the district game, the team placed third out of fifteen teams which qualified them for regionals. In the district competition, John McCurdy was a third place medalist.
The regional game was hosted by St. Philip's in Battle Creek , MI. Webberville tied for 8th place out of 13 teams. The team had four golfers named to the All-League Top Ten including: John McCurdy, Aaron Chamberlain, Mike Monroe, and Tyler McFern.
Coach Watkins stated, "This team really lived up to my expectations and even exceeded them in many areas. They will definitely be the team to beat next year. I am really proud of them." Watkins went on to say, "It make me even more proud of the team when other coaches would comment on their behavior and the way they handled themselves. It speaks volumes as to the character of these young men."
The team would like to thank the Webberville Athletic Boosters who recently bought them new golf bags. They look forward to the return of the golf season next year and further accomplishments for the team.
