CURRICULUM COUNCIL- minutes from November 18, 2004
Members Present: Suzi Slater, Christopher Card, Dana Perry, Laura Bartel, Eileen Slider, Janet Reifenberg, Beth Parnell, Brian Friddle, Maureen Monroe, Larry Neitzert, Dr. Bill Skilling.
Discussion about Representation in By Laws:
Possible options:
WEA (PSC) Representatives - Laura Bartel, Dana Coon (can’t attend meetings), Janet Reifenberg, Kathy Pierman;
ParentRepresentation Possibilities - Caron Guidroz, Betty Juntunen, Matt or Heather Kulaga, Sandy Judd;
Student Representative Possibilities - Carla Sikkila, Jeanne Van Gilder, Katie Pingle, Tara Hawley;
Department Chair Representative.
Input by student and parent representatives but not voting rights - limit to number of representatives.
Meeting dates in by Laws: Probably in summer - one half and full days to meet goals.
Suggestion - Meet beginning of summer break when staff is still around.
Curriculum Leadership Teams:
1. Combine math, science, and PROM/SE/health/physical education. Need science representative for elementary.
2. Fine Arts/Language Arts.
3. Technology/Media Sciences
4. Social Studies/Character Ed/Counseling and Guidance
Need chair for each of these committees. The chair would help non-member make presentations to the Curriculum Council.

Curriculum Goals:
1. Textbook cycle

5. Plan for future professional development - how we deal with new guidelines coming down.
6. Pilot adoptions
7. Adoptions approval
8. Align curriculum with presidential guidelines (courses different this year - give update on what is going on. Will do this next month. Goal for the future for these programs.
9. Develop a curriculum guide for scheduling and other communication purposes (January)
10. What do we want to teach at each grade level?
Next meeting December 16, 2004 - What do we need to put in the curriculum? How things are going with the new classes? Perspective of how things are going?
