Visual Arts Update (Beth Parnell)
View the Art Presentation presented by Ms. Parnell
The committee reviewed the vision for Webberville arts. What is art? Beth reported that the middle school is doing a variety of projects and she reviewed the course offerings for high school. Photography can be used in journalism and multi-media. A packet was given to committee members for curriculum reconstruction.
Local artist connection with an art show on May 13 th. The Art Club meets weekly with a variety of activities. It is a small group. They have made jewelry and have a wrapping paper activity planned.
The fifth and sixth graders need more art exposure. They need to know art vocabulary. Not sure how it will fit into the schedule. Financial costs are minimal. The Bond vote in 2006 could help to further develop the Fine Arts programs. Grants are also a good source of revenue for building the program.
All questions and inquires will be addressed at the next meeting with a vote at that time.
LIFT
Discussed LIFT in regards to the elementary school reading and writing programs, assessing students, guided instruction and more independence in reading.
Proposals will be discussed at the next meeting.
