Special Board Meeting Minutes
February 15, 2005
This Special Board meeting of the Webberville Board of Education was called to order by President Simmons in the Webberville Board of Education Office on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 6:37 p.m.
Present: Clifford Simmons II, Patricia Shanabrook, Kristine Brenner, Kathleen Westbrook, Caron Guidroz, and Dorris Crandall.
Also Present: Dr. Skilling, Superintendent.
Absent: Teri Chamberlain
Ms. Westbrook moved, Ms. Brenner seconded a motion to approve the Agenda of the Special Board of Education Meeting being held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 as amended to add a public participation section. Motion passed 6-0.
Mr. Simmons moved, Ms. Brenner seconded a motion to move the public participation section to the top of the agenda. Motion passed 6-0.
Public Participation :
Shannon Lyons – 2683 Elm Court, Webberville – Sees the school and community recreation program as a partnership. The recreation millage would lift the huge burden of generating funds off of the recreation program. It would add new programs for the kids and adults.
Tom Oliver - 777 N. Main Street, Webberville – What public act or law allows for a school district to levy a recreation millage. Dr. Skilling provided Mr. Oliver with a copy of the law.
Ear Griffes – 1165 House Road, Webberville – Asked how much the recreation millage would generate. Dr. Skilling responded with $177,000.
Action Items:
Ms. Crandall moved, Ms. Brenner seconded a motion to approve the resolution setting matters to be voted upon in regards to the 1.5 recreation millage as presented. Motion passed 6-0.
Ms. Shanabrook moved, Ms. Guidroz seconded a motion to approve offering an early childhood developmental delay program starting in the fall of 2005. Motion passed 6-0.
Mrs. Shanabrook moved, Mrs. Brenner seconded a motion to approve offering developmental kindergarten starting in the fall of 2005. Motion passed 6-0.
Mrs. Shanabrook moved, Mrs. Crandall seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion passed 6-0.
The Webberville Board of Education meeting was adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
