Minutes

 

This regular meeting of the Webberville Board of Education was called to order by Board President Simmons in the Webberville Secondary School library on Monday, January 24, 2005, at 7:00 p.m.

 

Present: Clifford H. Simmons II, Patricia Shanabrook, Teri Chamberlain, Kristine Brenner, Kathleen Westbrook, Tina Beauvais, and Dorris Crandall.

 

Absent: Charles Harper, Student Representative

 

Also present: Dr. Bill Skilling, Brian Friddle, Suzi Slater, Greg Glover, Jerome Learman, Barbara Weathers.

 

 

Approval of Agenda:

Ms. Shanabrook moved, Ms. Brenner seconded a motion to approve the Agenda of the Regular Board of Education Meeting being held Monday, January 24, 2005, as presented. Motion passed 7-0.

 

Approval of Consent Agenda:

Ms. Brenner moved, Ms. Crandall seconded a motion to adopt the Consent Agenda as presented. Motion passed 7-0.

 

Presentations:

Dr. Skilling recognized the Board of Education for all the work that they do for the school and the students. January is School Board Recognition Month and the board was presented with certificates, a cake, and a special cookie bouquet.

 

Mr. Cliff Simmons presented a plaque to Dr. James P. LaBerge in recognition of all the work he has done for the athletic department and the student athletes. The student athlete of the year award will be names in his honor.

 

Mr. Cliff Simmons read from the dedication plaque and recognized those involved in the development and completion of the secondary media center.

 

 

Reports:

Written reports were submitted and were not given orally.

 

 

Communications and Petitions:

None

 

Action Items:

Ms. Westbrook moved, Ms. Chamberlain seconded a motion to approve the resolution calling the regular school election as presented. Motion passed 7/0.

 

Ms. Chamberlain moved, Ms. Brenner seconded a motion to approve the strategic plan as presented. Motion passed 7/0.

 

Ms. Chamberlain moved, Ms. Shanabrook seconded a motion to approve the resolution honoring Dr. James P. LaBerge for his years of service and naming the athlete of the year award in his honor. Motion passed 7/0.

 

Ms. Westbrook moved, Ms Crandall seconded a motion to recess for the purpose of touring the new secondary facilities and remodeled areas and to reconvene the board meeting in the new elementary multipurpose room. Motion passed 7/0.

 

Ms. Westbrook moved, Ms. Shanabrook seconded a motion to move back into session for the dedication ceremony of the new elementary multipurpose room. Motion passed 7/0.

Ms. Westbrook moved, Ms. Crandall seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion passed 7-0. The Webberville Board of Education Meeting adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
